Ilocos Region has new police director

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Ilocos Police Regional Office (PRO-1) is now under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Santos Azurin Jr. who replaced Brig. Gen. Joel Orduña as regional director. Azurin replaced Orduna on May 10, based on a memorandum signed by Maj. Gen. Reynaldo Biay, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Director for Personnel and Records Management.  Azurin was director of the PNP Maritime Group before his appointment to PRO-1. “In doing our job and what is required of us, let us think local but act national and global. My objective for Ilocos Region is simplified in two letters of the alphabet only: M+K+K=K Malasakit+Kaayusan+Kapayapaan=Kaunlaran,” Azurin said as posted by the PRO-1 on Facebook on Monday. As of this posting, it is still unknown where Orduna will be assigned following his relief as regional director. He is reportedly planning to retire soon. “Three or four months ago, I was looking forward to this day; to end my service in a place where I personally believe as the Best Police Regional Office in the PNP. My 13 months stay here as your Regional Director was a walk in the park,” Orduña said as cited in a post by PRO-1. (PNA)
